Pause & Play at Home
-
Pause & Play is meant to be adapted to meet your family needs. Take a moment to consider flow of your day and ways in which parts (or all) of the lesson would be supportive.
Practices might be woven into daily routines: breathing at breakfast, movement during the day, and mindfulness at bedtime as you build up to doing an entire lesson together on Saturday mornings (or you just keep it sectioned in your family rhythm).
The point to hold here is to choose connection over perfection. Take what works and leave the rest.
-
When you’re starting something new, it’s easiest to choose bite-sized pieces.
Each lesson has parts for mindfulness, breath, and moment. Choose which part is easiest and most supportive to incorporate and then build from there. For some families, the best place to start is playing the meditation as part of the bedtime routine.
The point is to give yourself permission to let this be a process rather than event if that’s what you (and your family) needs.
As long as you’re using part of the lessons at least 2 times/week, you’ll see benefits in a few weeks.

The Nebula houses a variety of resources. You can find the audio recordings of the flows and meditations, games that make great structures for playdates, and additional but related activities that can expend the content into other skill areas.

Why Mindfulness, Breath, & Movement Matter at Home
They support emotional regulation and resilience.
Research shows that mindfulness and breathing practices help children recognize their feelings and calm their nervous systems, leading to improved emotional regulation, fewer meltdowns, and greater resilience over time. They strengthen attention and learning readiness.
Simple mindfulness and movement practices have been linked to improved focus, working memory, and self-control. All of which are skills that directly support learning, problem-solving, and classroom success. They help children manage stress and anxiety.
Breath work and gentle movement activate the body’s relaxation response, helping children cope with everyday stress, transitions, and big feelings in a healthy way. They build body awareness and confidence.
Movement-based practices improve coordination, balance, and proprioception while helping children feel more connected to and confident in their bodies. They work best when practiced consistently in small moments.
Research emphasizes that short, regular practices woven into daily routines are more effective than occasional long sessions. This makes breakfast breathing or bedtime mindfulness especially powerful. They strengthen connection between parent and child.
Shared mindfulness and movement moments foster emotional connection, trust, and co-regulation, helping children feel safe, supported, and understood.
